Convert existing accessory stock to serialised

Modified on Sun, 10 May at 6:33 PM

You can convert non-serialised accessory stock items to serialised format. This allows you to track individual units by serial number instead of managing them by quantity.

In this article we'll cover:

  • when you can convert an accessory to serialised format.
  • what happens to your stock data when you convert.
  • how to convert a non-serialised accessory to serialised.

Eligibility for conversion

You can only convert an accessory to serialised format if it meets one of these conditions:

  • The item has no allocations.
  • The item has one allocation that is fully spent (quantity = 0).

You cannot convert an accessory to serialised format if:

  • It has an active allocation with remaining quantity.
  • It has multiple allocations.
  • It is already serialised.

Reminder: Once an accessory is converted to serialised format, it cannot be converted back to non-serialised.

What happens when you convert

When you convert an accessory to a serialised format:

  • The accessory product is marked as serialised.
  • All future stock additions for this accessory will require a serial number and be tracked individually.
  • Existing stock items for this accessory remain unchanged unless they meet the eligibility criteria above.
  • Any new stock items added for this accessory will be tracked as individual units with quantity fixed at 1.
