Why can't I edit some patient details?

Modified on Mon, 18 May at 10:47 AM

Some fields may be locked based on permissions, patient status or automated workflows. If something isn't editable, it's likely intentional, designed to protect data integrity or comply with legal requirements.

Common reasons fields are locked:

Your Group permissions - Your Group may not have permission to edit certain fields. This is typically set by your organisation to protect sensitive information or prevent accidental changes.

System calculated fields - Some information is automatically calculated by HearLink (such as patient age calculated from date of birth) and cannot be manually edited.

Archived or deceased patients - Patients marked as archive or inactive may have restricted editing to protect closed records.

What to do if you need to edit locked fields:

If your responsibilities have changed or you are sure you should have access to edit patient details you can:

  • Speak to your organisations administrator or owner.
  • They can adjust your group membership or create a new group with the required permissions.

Common Fix: If a field seems locked, it may be tied to a workflow or permission setting. Speak with your administrator or organisation owner before escalating.

If you are an organisation owner please contact HearLink support.
